Are you legally required to unlock your phone? Does that loveable face of yours unlock it? These are all important questions...which have not been answered by SCOTUS.  BUT, we do have Crawford v. Washington and it helped in deciding that a defendant has a right to crossexamine testimony collected by police. Enter the cell phone and what locking mechanism is considered testimonial evidence and what is not.  Now enter all fifty states.  Ouf.  SCOTUS gave us a 9-0 decision on Crawford, so let's hope they'll come back around and have a koumbaya moment  Lord knows they need one right about now.
